Systemisation of Your Trade Business

Systemisation of your trade business

Automation and systemisation is something we take very seriously in our own business. These systems are in the form of flow diagrams, with one chart being developed for each element of the business. From taking an enquiry, following up payments, and even doing social media posts.

Systemisation of your trade business will also allow you to take time out of the day to day running, whenever you want. Take that family holiday you have been dreaming about. Enjoy an afternoon off for some personal time… knowing your business will run exactly the way you have planed it to.

Systemisation of your trade business – 5 steps:-

1. Plan

The power of planning should not be taken lightly (8x Planning Tips). Planning where you want to be is critical to success so set aside a couple of days to formulate and document a plan. Start with your company mission. This can assist you in developing effective strategies to achieve your goals and objectives.

2. Focus

By having a clear focus on measurable steps within the plan and achieving the desired results in an achievable time frame will mean that changes will be achieved.

3. Develop

At the beginning of the process, get your admin staff and tradesmen to write down what they do – every day! This will be your starting point. Start developing step-by-step systems for the tasks they do most commonly such as ‘quoting’ and ‘booking a job’. When these are completed, you can move on to tasks that may only be completed once a week or once a month such as ‘chasing customer payments’.

4. Test

Once you have developed a system, give it to a staff member (or do it yourself) to follow along with when completing the associated activity. Correct mistakes or add in anything that is missing.

5. Grow

When good business systems are ingrained in every aspect of your business, it will run smoothly and effectively – even if you’re not there! Plus, your staff will be more productive therefore making more money.

Systemising does require a strong commitment and a considerable amount of time. It is worth it because the end results can make a massive difference in your business – and even more importantly – your life!
